Dr. Hamadeh is currently Associate Dean for Informatics and Continuing Education and Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the American University of Beirut (AUB). He is also the Chair of the Arab Board of Family & Community Medicine.
Dr. Hamadeh is double boarded by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Clinical Informatics. He graduated from AUB in 1984 and completed Family Medicine training at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and a faculty development fellowship at the University of North Carolina.
He served as faculty and as Assistant Residency Program Director at MUSC for 2 years then returned to AUB where he took on a variety of responsibilities within and outside the Faculty of Medicine, including: Department Acting Chair for 2 years, Assistant Dean for student affairs for one year, University Health Services Director and Chair of the Department of Family Medicine since 2005. He has also been President of the Lebanese Society of Family Medicine for 3 years, a consultant to WHO, private health insurance industry, and advisor to Minister of Public Health since 2004.
Dr. Hamadeh received research grants for and implemented numerous informatics & quality improvement projects at AUB and the Ministry of Public Health. He has published in the areas of community oriented primary care, medical education, medical ethics, management and health informatics and health promotion and disease prevention.
